You can change your USD and other major foreign currencies into Vietnam money at any banks anywhere in Vietnam as well as arrival hall in the airports, reception desk at the hotels, money exchange offices in the city, gold-shops and travel agencies. However, you are advised to check online with the updated exchange rate of the Vietnamese dong as the exchange rate might be vary from place to place. Anyway, most tourist and expat believe that gold shops are the best place to change money into Vietnamese currency, however, we do believe and advice you to exchange money through the licensed money changers and the banks.

The currency of Vietnam is quite stable as it has been almost untouched since 2014. The Vietnamese dong (VND) exchange rates are better to be checked live and update on the state bank of Vietnam such as Vietcombank, TP Bank, Techombank and similar banks as they updated every minute within the local trading updates. The popular foreign currency to be changed into VND are American dollar, British pound, Australian dollar, Canadian dollar, Thai Baht and Euro. Other major currencies are also easily acceptable. Vietnam Currency is the dong (VND). The name of the Vietnamese money means copper: during the French colonization in Indochina, in fact, the practice of minting coins in the copper currency was widespread in Vietnam. The history of the dong, however, is very recent: in fact it was born in 1978, following the reunification of the country that took place after the end of the conflict, which tore the country apart for over ten years. Despite the introduction of aluminum coins, due to the heavy inflation and the very low value of the currency, in fact, they never circulated until 2003, when the Vietnamese government introduced a new coinage. Until then, to buy at vending machines, the population used to change banknotes into tokens.
